Some Summer Sights

Summer is going to fade away soon. It's still warm and sunny, but I know it can't last much longer.

Luckily, September is an easy transition into fall. The weather is so perfect that it could fool you into thinking it was still summer.

Wait, it is still summer! The kids may be back in school, but the calendar says it's still summer for a little longer yet.

I mean, look at these pretties. It's got to be summer with all these flowers still around.

So take it in, enjoy it. Savor all these summer sights. You'll need these memories when winter comes to call. On those bleak winter days, you'll find it hard to believe that flowers still exist.

It's still summer folks, go out and enjoy it! All too soon, it will be gone.

  1. Oh my, such pretty flowers, such beautiful photos of them Your garden must glow and you must smile. And your neighbors must be very jealous. I love the photo of the gold finch and envy your platners.

    1. Thanks Ann, but it's been a perfect summer and my containers have thrived. I have to admit, I've never seen them look better! I do get compliments from the neighbors, and I guess that's why I do it after all. Ha ha!

    1. Melanie, we think alike when it comes to our love of summer. It's always tough to let it go. But I'm trying hard to savor it, because the W word won't be here for awhile yet.

  3. Such beautiful photos! I love the butterfly and insect images. Here so many flowers have retreated from summer heat, and we are counting the days till the temperatures and humidity drop and more moderate weather prevails. But I can feel the season beginning to change, and soon flowers will come out to dance in the breeze again before winter slips in.

    1. Capturing pictures of my the butterflies and hummingbirds in my garden are one of my summer highlights. It's starting to feel like fall, but it's still mild enough to ease the transition.

    1. Thank you Pam! I must admit, my planters have had a banner year, what with the more temperate summer we've enjoyed. I hate to see it go, but the days are getting shorter and cooler. Say it isn't so!

  5. The days are noticeably shorter and that does make me sad as well. You garden is alive with life and vigor though. You even have foxgloves in September! Enjoy these last warm days.

    1. The shorter, cooler days make me a little sad, but then again, September is so gorgeous that it's almost worth saying goodbye to summer. Almost!

If only my garden looked half as nice as yours I would be happy.

    1. Thank you so much Marissa, but it takes a lot of work! Sometimes I think I should take it easy, not put in so many flowers. But then I think, No Way!

  7. It certainly does look like summer is still hanging on in your garden, you have so many wonderful plants still in bloom.

    1. Thanks Paula, and thanks so much for visiting my blog! It has been a banner year in the garden, because summer was wetter and cooler than usual. And that's why everything looks particularly good this year. I'm grateful!

  8. Great post. Great photos and great message! Yes, it's still summer and I am going to squeeze as much out of it as I can. Then I'll take a spatula and scrape the remaining and lick until it's clean. And when it's gone, I'll sit down and pout like a four year old. :)

    1. Kelli, we've had glorious late summer weather, plus early and middle summer weather. It was much wetter than usual, and cooler, and those things combined into the best summer we've had in years. The garden shows it too.

  12. I find this time of year beautiful, yet sad. There's still a lot of beautiful flowers, but most have dried up and are done for the season. We know what's coming (ugh). I love your coleus plants - the variety and arrangement is so beautiful. That was MY first plant as a kid - I fell in love with it at the store and my mom let me keep one in my bedroom. I was 11 or 12. Your unknown wasp is a dirt dauber or "mud wasp".

    1. Coleus does make a nice houseplant over the winter, all that color! I'm surprised they don't market them as such. It's easy to take cuttings, do you usually do that?
