Late Winter in Robin's Nest

Winter isn't gone just yet, but hopefully it's on its last legs here at the end of February. I can dream, right? But we did start off with a good snow, on the very first day of the month. It was beautiful!

After that, we had rain instead, and lots of it. I suppose I'll be glad for all that rain come garden season. Hubby will surely be enjoying a glorious green lawn this spring, courtesy of the constant deluge. Until then, there are only indoor flowers to look at.

Occasionally, the rain did stop long enough to show off a sunset down at the ponds. This was one particularly lovely day.

And here was another pretty end of day. People are often surprised by my sunset shots, on days when they didn't even notice it happening. The trick is looking to the horizon. Sometimes there isn't much going on overhead. But if I go down to the ponds where the view is unobstructed, I can often find sunset views that others don't even see.

Since it really is winter, I don't have any actual photos of my own garden to share. I'd love to have more snowy photos to take, but our winters are often drab instead. When I get weary of the endless gray days, I know that it's time to visit Franklin Park Conservatory again. In case you haven't guessed, I'm a member there. It works out perfectly for me, so that I can visit again and again whenever the mood hits me. This late winter visit to see the orchids is my own tradition.

Soon the Conservatory will feature Blooms and Butterflies, and the Pacific Island Water Garden area will be filled with my favorite fluttering friends. I can't wait!

I do have one single outdoor flower to show off here at winter's end. I spotted these two cutie crocus blooming yesterday! It's cold again now, so they've closed up tight for now. But they did give me cause to celebrate. Spring will come again, and soon!
